January 2022 Hybrid Monthly Meeting

January 15 @ 1:00 PM 3:00 PM

Join us on January 15th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for our our first Hybrid Monthly Meeting of the new year, in person and online via Microsoft Teams. We have lots of fun planned, including a set draft, recent events and builds, set reviews, community build time, and news from the LAN. Members are welcome to bring guests as well. We ask that all members and guests who attend in person are vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. We look forward to seeing you in person and online!

*Please do not attend in person if you are ill or unvaccinated.*

January Draft Set

Looking to get a lot of some good parts? Look no further. ConnLUG Members may participate in the monthly set draft, where all participants acquire the same set, and we part them out during the meeting. Then, we draw numbers to see who picks first, second, third, etc., until all of the parts are chosen. The more participants, the more of the chosen piece there is for them to choose. All members keep their minifigs for draft sets that contain them. Members may bring up to two (2) draft sets per member.

January Set Review

The January Set Review will be LEGO set #80036, Monkie Kid – The City of Lanterns, as reviewed by ConnLUG member Brian B.

Our monthly set reviews are a great way to learn about new LEGO sets, reminisce about sets from childhood, and discover building techniques, clever Easter eggs, and what it takes to create them. Members are welcome to review any set that they like at each meeting. Do you have a favorite LEGO set or theme? Let us know what you want to see reviewed, or feel free to review one yourself at our monthly meeting.

January Build Challenge

In March of 2020, just as the global pandemic hit us, our last in-person meeting of that year was an opportunity for us to work on a LUG Build Challenge. The challenge was to build any type of building with any detail we desired, so long as it was only 8 studs wide. We had some excellent builds from several members during this challenge. Fast forward to now, and we are reviving the 8-stud-wide build challenge! As part of our January Monthly Meeting, members in attendance will have time to build and work on their designs. Then, for our February Monthly Meeting, we will present the builds, and members can vote on the ones they like the best. There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners. Members joining us remotely are welcome to participate in the challenge as well. After the challenge, we would like to keep all of the 8-stud-wide builds together for future layouts and events.
